No Mountain Too High To Climb

Walter C. Stout, Sr. was born in Portsmouth, OH in 1931 in a working-class family. The depression cost many families their standard of living, the breadwinner unable to find employment.  It forced his family to lose their home in the city and move into a small four-room house build with rough lumber on thirteen acres of hill land.  His family ended up being the poorest of the poor.  The only ones poorer were like our homeless today.  That is why they hold a special spot in his heart.

He found the importance of education at a young age while attending a two-room schoolhouse on Duck Run, McDermott, Ohio.  It was the encouragement of his mother and his teachers that motivated him to work and get a better than average education.  If you believe in God and the goodness of people your life will be much better.  He believes that if we do not reach out to help others and show compassion we cheat ourselves.

He was married almost fifty-three years to his first wife Eloise, who died of Alchemies Disease.  They were blessed with two children, four grandchildren, and three Great-grandchildren.

He was lucky to find another wonderful wife two years ago.  A friend of fifty years, Ruth has given life so much meaning.  With the encouragement of her and others, this first book is possible.

Many of the poems have been cut into granite benches and placed throughout Scioto County, Ohio.  His poems have set a new art form and have received world records for their size and content.  His other awards are Poet Fellow, International Poet, and Poet Laureate.  His works have been published in numerous newspapers, magazines, and books.
