The person you brush aside today, you should give your utmost respect.
The way they walk so slow and clumsy,
they may be an Disabled American Vet.
America was attacked at Perl Harbor in 1941.
They may have left hight school to take up the gun.
Even the women served, no courage they lacked.
Many became a Nurse, WASP, SPAR, WAF, USMCWR, WAVE OR WAC.
Many Veterans served in the steaming jungle heat or the artic cold.
From all wars, millions have lived
with their heroic tales untold.
They never bragged to anyone
what they have done.
Upon their death, we find the medals
they have won.
They suffer from the wounds they got,
felling all the pain,
But have kept on going, not using it
for personal gain.
They never thought themselves special,
just had a job to do.
We should give thanks for the freedom
they protected, for me and for you.
If they want to pass by you, please step aside,
Salute and honor them, show them your pride.
