Don't make negative remarks about the American Vet.
He may not be as old as he looks.
He was fighting wars for your freedom while others were
In school cracking the books.
When America was attacked on 9-11,
he tried to enlist again.
His papers showed the wars he fought,
including time in Vietnam.
When they read of the battles he fought,
he was not an old man in boots.
They saw him as a brother and hero,
they stood up and gave salutes.
His friends and neighbors did not know this secret,
because he did not tell.
Why would he want to ruin their day,
talking about that living hell.
When charity would call or any emergency arose,
he would gladly volunteer,
His family and friends were in need
and the country he holds dear.
He never wanted attention or honor,
just a ob that needed done.
He just knew his reward would be given
beyond the setting sun.
When his last breath is drawn,
and he takes that eternal sleep,
Remember how much our loss is,
don't be ashamed to weep.
