I took a short walk in a cemetery one day.

I saw a young lady kneeling at a new grave and I heard her say,

You said "When we married, we would never part.

You said that you loved me and called me your Sweetheart.

We were so happy, that our married life had begun.

In two years we had a daughter and a son.

For five years we were happy, life was the best.

We both worked hard to make it a success.

It is a shame with all your education,

You thought drugs was for recreation.

The desire for stronger drugs grew more every day.

Like a thief that slipped up and took your ambition away.

It took everything it was plain to see.

Even the love you had for your family.

The thing it took that I hate the most,

Is the precious life you lost from the overdose.

I will live in sorrow until my life does end

And keep dreaming of how our lives might have been".
