Listen to that siren,
what a wicked sounding scream,
Heading down the street or a roadway
to a fiery scene.
Watching the fire engines roaring
down the road or street.
We see smoke rising and jump to our feet.
We are attracted, like others to that fiery scene.
When all of a sudden, it becomes a bad dream.
There is a mother ringing her hands,
almost going wild.
Her pleading voice softly begging
"Please, save my child.
The child is in a bedroom asleep.
I tried to get it out as I came
But I was cut off by the smoke and flames."
They kept water on that fiery dragon,
as firefighters ran into that smoky gloom,
Keeping it at bay, so they could reach
the child's room.
It seemed like forever, before the image came.
A firefighter carrying a small body,
snatched from the smoke and flame.
EMT'S started treating the childd,
the firefighter hit the ground.
Trying to get a breath, as others croweded around.
We heard this heroes voice,
plead oh so and mild,
"Don't worry about me, try to save the child."
When we hear the child is breathing,
and we relax and sigh.
As it is announced the child is alright,
as it opens up it's eyes.
We are grateful for the child,
safe from the smoke and flame.
Respect the heroes that saved the child
even if we do not know their names.
Just remember wheather it's the Twin Towers in NY
or anywhere in the USA,
While trying to save others firefighters may die today,

Firefighters Are Heroes
