Mother's New Coat

In the middle of the depression, we hillbillies were mighty poor.

Every now and then the provebia wolf came kn ocking on our door.

Mother would look at coats in catalogues, the one she had was worn thin.

She did not know how to get one, she had no money to spend.

Christmas would soon be here, that wolf was nocking at our door.

We opened the door up for him, we never had before.

He must of thought we were smiling it was sly grin.

He found out he had made a bad mistake the instant he came in.

Five rough hillbilly children grabber him and rolled across the floor.

When we finished with him, he had that coat no more.

When he hit the open door, he did not have his skin.

For the rest of the depression he never called on us again.

The neightor saw mother's new coat,

The only answer she gave was,

"A Country Boy Will Survive, A Hillbilly Child Will Prosper."
