It wasn't in a distant jungle , or the Sahara sand.

Many were lost ino their native land.

The cause was Katrina, what a gentle sounding name

But it all changed when the hurricane came

Some kept ignoring the warning they should evacuate.

Many did not or could bitm then it was to late.

The storm kept on building and then it hit the shore.

When it was over, beautiful New Orleans will be no more.

There was a deafening wind sounding like a speeding train.

Along with the tidal surge and the driving rain.

Many lost everything causing physical and emotional strife.

The greatest loss of all was the human life.

When all thought it was past, there was no more storming.

Sake Pontrain let go without any warning.

When the levee ruptured and the flooding begun.

It spread like wild fire, faster than people could run.

When terrible tragedy hits now and then

Many could loose loved ones and never see them again.

We that never lived what others have went through

Can never undrestand, so I'm asking you.

Share our love and kindness and what we have

For this can happen to all the rest.

If we love our neighbor as ourselves, we are trying blessed.
