We remember the tears shed,
when you went out the door.
The best American had to offer, going off to war.
Many were girls and boys suddenly becoming
women and men.
Never enjoying the joys of their youth again.
Many of you died in airplanes, ships,
submaarines and mud.
Some died alone or with their buddies
s blood.but all shed hero
Some returned broken in body,
some in spirit or mind.
Some would see no sunrise or sunset
because they went blind.k
They can always be proud of the battles fought,
and the battles they won.
And never quitting when times got tough
or the battle had begun.
We try to understand what you went through
being hit by shrapnel and shell,
God must have reserved a place in Heaven for you.
Because you have already spent your time in Hell.
You will always be our American Hero's,
this we will always say.
We owe all that serve a debt
that we can never repay.
