It was snowing on Christmas Eve when the call came in.
That her husband was drunk or high and violent again.
He had beaten her up and he was really wild.
He quit beating her, now he is after the child.
The officers could remember this kind of sight.
They have seen it often and thought not tonight.
As they rushed to answer this emergency call,
Bobby thought of his wife, that walked the front hall.
She would often do this time and time again.
When she worried at night thinking about him.
When they approached the home they heard this terrible sound.
The message went out they never want to hear, "Officer down."
Hughie sat down in the show. gently cradled his pradled his partners head.
As the now aroung them turned a deadly red.
For years they had been trusted partners, saved each others lives.
Now he couldn't save his partner, how could he tell his wife.
Unwrapped presents under the tree, food she did not cook.
Family and friends grieving for a hero, an act of violence took.
After the funeral is over, when the family is all alone,
She knows this is where they lived and loved,
It is now just a house not a total home.
When we get upset with Law Enforcement Officers
Think of their family or their wife
While they are protecting us today they may lose their life.
