In the 70s when our Commander, John Foster, returned home from the Air Force, he devoted a lot of time helping abused, neglected, underprivileged and needy children. His father, Charles Foster &
Roy Rogers were childhood buddies. Roy knew him by his nickname Poke. John wrote to Roy and told
him about his dad Poke. He told Roy about his work with the children and asked Roy if he would
make a recording to advertise for him. They became close friends and when John received the tape
there was a message at the end of it from Roy. Roy said when he came back to Portsmouth he would
contact him and they would get together. When Roy came back to visit some friends and his old
school teacher in Lucasville, he contacted John. During their visit, most of the conversation was between John's dad Poke and Roy. They talked about their old friends and what went on years ago like it was just yesterday. It was a very rewarding visit and one that John will never forget. Some of these pictures were taken at Roy's old school teachers home in Lucasville, OH.
We hope you enjoy the pictures.

Welcome to
Roy Rogers Corral

When Roy & Dale were going from place to place entertaining they didn't
leave poor children standing outside looking in, they gave them a
ticket to get in. They didn't forget their friends of yesteryears before
becoming stars either. You will learn a lot about Roy, where he
came from, how he made it big, what his real name was and how he
met Dale when you click on the sign below. It is too bad that they were
pushed aside and all the junk shows took over. They say the reason
his museums were torn down and sold out is that our younger
generation hasn't heard of him. I guess we can say that is us old
folks fault. We should have told our children and grandchildren about
him. We are sorry we let you down, Roy. I don't know why they
don't show him on TV on Saturday mornings anymore,
especially right here in Portsmouth It was a sad day when we lost
Roy and Dale. Two wonderful people where he lived most of his younger
days. Fair well Roy and Dale, we will miss you.
