Doug Edward Cooley, 67, of West Portsmouth, Ohio, died Friday, April 12, 2013. He was born Sept. 3, 1945, in New Boston, to the late Russell H. and Ruie Johnson Cooley. Douglas was a retired painter and a U.S. Army veteranst Portsmouth. Two brothers
of the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Apostolic Church in West Portsmouth.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Lola Mae Deaver Cooley who he married July 1, 1967, in West Portsmouth, three sons: Timothy Edward Cooley of New Boston, Christopher Dale Cooley of Columbus, and Joseph Russel Cooley of West Portsmouth, two daughters: Regina Lennex, and Cheryl Thornton both of We

Funeral Services wildl be at 1 p.m. Monday April 15, 2013, at Mt. Zion Apostolic Church in West Portsmouth with Donald Harr and Edward Messer officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery. He was born September 15, 1935 in Scioto County to the late George and Irene Stevens
Adkins. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. and Norman Adkins all of West;
Portsmouth; two sisters, Mary (Norm) Gross and Marcellia Worthington both of Portsmouth;
eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by a sister Emogene McGraw.

Donald R. Andrews, 76 of McDermott died Friday February 20, 2009 at SOMC Hospice.
He was born September 6, 1932 in Pulaski, VA to the late Charles and Maggie King Andrews. He was a graduate of Pulaski High School and attended Ohio University. He retired from Goodyear Atomic Corporation. Donald was an Army Veteran where he held rank as a Sergeant, a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769 a 32 degree Mason of the Valley of Cincinnati and was of the Methodist Faith. Don’s greatest joy in life was his family. His beloved daughter and grandchildren were a blessing to him during his long illness. Along with his parents Don was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Arnold, Howard, Darst, William and Wayne Andrews.
Don is survived by his wife Carolyn Shepherd Andrews who he married on June 16, 1962 in Portsmouth, a daughter Julie (Jody) Montavon of McDermott and 2 grandchildren; Rachel Howell and Luke Montavon, 2 brothers; Kenneth Andrews of Kernersville, NC, Gene Andrews of Pulaski, VA a sister Audrey Fisher of Hallsville, Texas, brother-in-law Elmer (Lorraine) Shepherd of West Portsmouth, sister-in-law’s Joyce(Charles) Stamper of McDermott and Dolores Shepherd of West Portsmouth. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

He was a retired POl/E6 Navy veteran and served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and was a former fireman at the A-Plant. He was a member ofa American LJmes Dickey Post 23 egion; Rome Lodge No. 535 F.A.M; and captain of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Easter, II; a great-great-grandson, Derrick Lee; three brothers, Harold Easter, Harry Easter, Jr. and Paul Howard Easter; and one sister, Margaret Singer. ALMA COLE BILLIE COLE NORTH MORELAND - Alma Jean Cole, 86, and Billie Cole, 86, both of North Moreland, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, and Sunday, October 20, 2013, respectively, at Community Hospice in Ashland, Ky. Born on July 13, 1927, in Portsmouth, Alma was a daughter of the late Leo and Sylvia Fern Platt Lyons and was a housewife. Preceding her in death were a son, Ron Cole; sisters, Catherine Montavon, Lucille Jones and Mary Ann Karbula; a grandson, Ron Cole II; and a great-grandson. Born on July 8 1927, in Wheelersburg, Billie was a son of the late Cecil and Ruth Pearl Daulton Cole, was a retired truck driver for Coca-Cola, and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the James Dickey Post of the American Legion, Poage Masonic Lodge in Ashland, Ky., and a Shriner. Preceding him in death were his wife, Alma; a son, Ron Cole; a grandson, Ron Cole II; a great-grandson; and a brother, Glen Ray Cole. Norma Jean Garrett, 66, of Minford, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, in the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on September 12, 1947 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late floyd and Nora Snith Faulkner, and was a homemaker. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 38 years, Charles James Garrett, brothers, Raymond Greene and Ken Faulkner and a sister, Bonnie Monroe. Surviving are a son, Steven (Billy) Garrett, daughters, Lisa (Bryan) Hickcoock, Brenda (Rusty) Garrett and Lon (Frankie) Harper, all of Minford; brothers William "Buck" (Vada) Greene of Lorain and Clarence (Bonnie) Faulkner of South Wester, sisters Eveln (Glen) Mullins of Wakeman and Juanita "Edie" (Glen) Donley of Pedro, and 7 grandchildren, Kyle Hitchcock, Elizabeth Culp, Kaleb Hitchcock, Ryan Waddell, Kyrie Harper, Easton Harper and Laynah Harper. A funeral service was held at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment was in Scioto Furnace Cemetery. Norma was the widow of a veteran, Charles James Garrett. She was a member of V.H.V.O. where she received assistance as a widow of a veteran.
