"Veterans Helping 2005"

Being a Host Family is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.  I mean, inviting a student from on the other side of the world to live with you for a school year, that is awesome all by itself.  You get the chance of a lifetime to introduce someone to America for the first time in their life.  It is such an honor to be able to, not just tell, but show why America is the greatest country on God's green earth.  You get a chance to make a friend from another country who quickly becomes closer than a friend, they become a part of your family.  My first was a young man from Germany whose name was Philipp Schroder.  Boy, do we ever miss him?  We became so close and though he is back home now, he feels like one of my own.
